Madonna Hairstyles

Madonna, the queen of popular music, has reinvented herself for more than three decades. And her hair is no exception. Her hair has followed in her footsteps like a shadow to its host. The diva has changed her image so many times we’ve lost count. Yet, she still remains one of the most indispensable artists of her time. Today, Madonna still hits the charts with her sassy style and record breaking trends.

Madonna Louise Ciccone was born August 16, 1958 in Rochester, Michigan. She started out as a dancer in her home state. Then later on began her professional career as a back up singer to several groups in New York. She gave us the hit albums: Like a Virgin; True blue; Ray of Light, American Life; and Confessions on a Dancefloor. Her defiant and almost rebellious stage performances were ravaged by teenagers during the 80’s and 90’s. She also took on acting with films like “Desperately Seeking Susan” and “Body of Evidence.” She was an all-in-one phenomenon, she was controversial, she was the one-and-only, Queen of Pop.

Madonna’s Like a Virgin years, brings back memories of the messy and sassy crop that was a fad during the 1980’s. The hair is razor cut all over to create a shaggy look. It was very popular during the punk era and was a nice alternative from the Goth look and other styles that were popular during that time. Surprisingly, some girls still wear the “material girl” look. Especially, now that new wave look is getting another shot after the fashion disaster in the 80’s.

After the gruesome, distasteful fashion statement of the 80’s, it was time for Vogue. The 90’s offered a sighing relief with better sleek and aerosol-free hairstyles. Madonna almost shaved it off with a sophisticated extrovert style or the “Annie Lennox” look. Madonna frosted her tips from a solid brown to an almost platinum blonde. The short graduated shape of the hair exudes the fun and playful side of the queen. It’s very low maintenance, you just apply mousse, blow-dry, finish off with a little cream, and you’re good to go. The hairstyle is perfect for long faces or could work with oval-shapes.

Our queen, didn’t stop there, she wore an array of medium to long length hairstyles that are often worn today. From crops, waves, tapered ends, long concave bobs, sliced layers, jagged cuts, one lengths and long straights, name it, our queen did it all. Madonna was not only an icon, she was a household name. There isn’t anybody in the world who doesn’t know her and her hairstyles. She can change from innocent to notorious in seconds.

So if you’re thinking of a style that will last decades, follow the queen. She can lead you to a fun and adventurous voyage in hair trend. Not only that, she has the fashion sense like that of a designer. Bear in mind, she’s in the business for far too long. Believe me when I say, she’ll teach you to set the trend.
